Edythe M Clements

Edythe was born at home near Cissna Park, Illinois, to Lydia Marie Feller Moser, a housewife, and Carl Daniel Moser, a farmer. She was the second oldest of six children and a third generation German American. She graduated salutatorian from Rankin High School in Illinois. She graduated from Michael Reese Hospital School of Nursing Chicago and, wanting to see the world became a traveling nurse for the American Red Cross, working in California and Dallas, Texas. Edythe met her future husband, James Howell Clements, M.D., at an interview for a private duty nurse for his friend who had been injured in a car accident in Dallas. Jim was a medical school intern at Parkland Hospital where she also worked. Intrigued by her industriousness and beauty he soon visited her at the nurses' station. They married six months later in August 1953 at the home of the Murphy family, owners of Dallas restaurant, Little Bit of Sweden, where Jim worked part time. In 1955 Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army for eight years to receive his general surgery residency. During those years they lived in San Antonio, Texas, Sacramento, California, El Paso, Texas where two daughters were born, Tacoma, Washington, Okinawa, Japan, where their son was born, and Augusta, Georgia. In civilian life they lived in Richardson, Garland, Parker, and Wylie, all suburbs of Dallas. Edythe moved to the Lake Highlands area of Dallas in 2010. Edythe returned to nursing in 1979 after taking many years off to raise her children. She was honored with two "Excellence in Nursing" awards by Baylor Hospital in Dallas, TX. Nurse Recognition Award 1988 Critical Care Nurse of the Year 1989 Edythe loved both vegetable and floral gardening, sewing, preparing gourmet meals, fishing at the family ranch, tending her flock of multi-color chickens and small herd of baby Herford calves, and Bible Study Fellowship International. Edythe was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Clements, her parents, Lydia and Carl Moser, and sisters, Joann Keller and Sandy Mulcahey. She is survived by daughter, Lydia and son-in-law, J. Maxwell Tucker of Dallas, daughter, Ruth Clements of Miami, Florida, son, James H. Clements II and daughter-in-law, Debbie of Wylie, grandchildren, John Tucker (Ashley), Madison Clements Kach (Travis), Abbey Clements Carl (Chris), great-grandson Everett Archer Tucker, other close family members, Josh Harris (Erin) and Tiffany Rees (Jeremy) and their children Bentley, Brooklyn, and Elijah, sisters Doris Hofer of Fort Myers, Florida, Betty Beier (Herman) of Cissna Park, brother, Richard, of Rankin and many loved nieces and nephews.
