May Dell was born in Dallas on May 23, 1929 and passed away on November 2, 2020 after a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years Charles Benners (Charley) and her youngest son Timothy Benners. She is survived by her children, son David Benners, his wife Beth, daughter Nancy Paschal, her husband Greg and her daughter-in-law Wendy Benners. Five grandchildren, Chris Benners and wife Christa, Robert Benners and husband Zach Swearingen, Heather Benners, Katie Paschal Buchanan and husband Kyle Buchanan and Grace Paschal. She was also blessed with 2 great grandchildren Jaxson and Avery Benners. May Dell's life was centered around her family and friends. She loved family gatherings, holidays and any chance to be with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and Charley enjoyed a lifelong friendship with 5 other couples affectionately known as "The Gang" or the "Dirty Dozen". In their younger years they would meet monthly for fellowship and a meal together, often talking and drinking coffee or Diet Coke until after midnight. May Dell had few vices other than her love of Diet Coke and absolute requirement to have something sweet to eat after every meal. May Dell was a proud stay at home Mom, fully devoted to raising her children and managing the household. As her children became older, she returned to work in marketing and collections at several credit unions and ultimately retired from the Baylor College of Dentistry where she was the assistant to the Director of Personnel. In her younger years, May Dell enjoyed traveling with her family and planning an annual 2 week vacation somewhere new within the United States. Later in life, she took several trips to Hawaii, visited family in Germany, and enjoyed going to family weddings in Virginia Beach, Mississippi and Austin. Her final trip was in 2016 to Laguna Beach, California where she met her first great grandchild, Jaxson Christopher Benners. May Dell will be laid to rest with her Charley at DFW National Cemetery. Due to the pandemic the cemetery does not allow flowers, so the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity or church in her name.
