James Frederick Potticary

James Frederick Potticary, 90, of Dallas, TX, passed away on September 17, 2019. A rosary will be held at 10:00 am followed by the funeral mass at 10:30 am, September 28, 2019, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Reception to follow the funeral mass at St. Patrick's Parish Hall. Jim was born in Watertown, SD on November 28, 1928. He graduated from Gage Park High School in Chicago, IL and received a BS in Business from the University of San Francisco. Jim was married to Ann Louise Nordin on August 9, 1963; they were married 56 years. Jim worked in the hospitality industry starting as a waiter at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs and then at the Blue Fox and Normandy restaurants in San Francisco while attending the University. He then moved back to Watertown, SD, to manage the Plateau Restaurant and met his future wife. Hilton Hotels recruited him to work in food and beverage where he went on to develop the Red Barron concept for the restaurants in Hilton Hotels. In 1971 Jim moved to Hilton HEC where he became part of a new industry purchasing furniture, supplies and equipment for hotels. His career continued as he worked for other hotel brands including Ramada, Radisson, and Lincoln Hotels. He enjoyed painting and gardening in his free time. He was also actively involved at St. Patrick's Church and volunteering at Love Field Airport. Jim is survived by his wife Ann of 56 years, his children, Billie Thorne (Terry), Richard Potticary II (Debby) and Heidi Pickerill (Joe) and his loving grandchildren Katie, James, Ben, Abby, Grace, Ally and Nick and his brother Richard Potticary.
