Robert Wayne Taylor, 82, of Lake Texoma, formerly of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, at Medical City Plano.
Born in Dallas on September 29, 1942, Robert graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1960 and went on to earn his degree from the University of North Texas in 1965. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1972, embodying a deep commitment to his country.
Robert spent his entire professional career with Oncor (formerly TXU), where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
A true craftsman at heart, Robert found joy in building and flying model planes—a passion he carried throughout his life. After retiring with his wife Peggy to Lake Texoma, he devoted countless happy hours in his hobby room, building planes and tinkering on his cherished lake jeep. Robert loved boating, grilling and deep frying for friends and family, and especially treasured cooking dinner for Peggy.
He enjoyed getting together with his lifelong school and college friends, visiting with neighbors on the deck at the lake house, and photographing the local wildlife at Lake Texoma. His quick wit, hearty laugh, and unmistakable Texas friendliness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Andrew Taylor and Geneva Mae Taylor, and his beloved son, Robb Ben Taylor. He is survived by his devoted wife, Peggy Sledge Taylor, now residing in Dallas; his stepdaughter, Cameron Hernholm and her husband, Anthony Logsdon; his stepson, John Trussell and his wife, Taryn Trussell; and his cherished grandchildren, Kamiyah Hernholm, Jalee Trussell, and Gunner Trussell.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on July 26, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Birdie’s Eastside in Dallas. Family and friends are invited to come together to share stories and honor his memory.
Robert’s generous spirit, sense of humor, and love for life will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.
