Georgie E. Plasencio, age 90, passed away on May 5, 2025, in Sachse, TX. She was born on
March 10, 1935, in Ganado, TX, to Victor Estrello and Maria Guzman Estrello. Georgie was
raised in humble circumstances on a farm in South Texas, where she grew up alongside her nine
siblings.
Georgie pursued a nursing degree and moved to Dallas to begin her career in healthcare. She
found her calling working with children as a nurse at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
During her time there, she met and married Joe Plasencio after a brief courtship. They were wed
at The Holy Trinity Cathedral Church in Dallas, TX, on January 6, 1962. A devout Catholic,
Georgie was a dedicated wife, a loving mother of two, and an active member of the Church
throughout her life.
Her nursing career began at Scottish Rite and later took her to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where
she trained as a surgical technician. Georgie also worked at Spegal Hospital in Garland before
taking time off to raise her family. Committed to her profession, she maintained her nursing
license and later became the Director of Nurses at Chambrel at Club Hill Retirement
Home—where she even modeled for the facility’s brochure. Georgie was a source of trusted
medical advice for both family and friends and continued to care for others even after retiring
from nursing.
Georgie was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Maria Estrello, and her brothers Victor
Estrello Jr., Ernest Estrello, Marcellino Estrello, Raymond Estrello and Mario Estrello. She is
survived by her children: Joe M. Plasencio III of Dallas and Sarina Underwood and her husband
Larry of Sachse; her grandchildren Sierra Sheeter and her husband Michael, and Nico; and her
siblings Beatrice Leal, Raymondo Estrello, Dolores Hall, and Josephine Crawford.
Those who knew Georgie will remember her genuine kindness, easygoing nature, and
unwavering support for her family. To her husband and children, she was a pillar of love and
strength, always dedicated to creating a warm and happy home. She will be dearly missed.
