Nancy May Hernandez

Nancy May Hernandez passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends
on February 16, 2024. To many she was known as Nancy, but to those whom she loved most she
was known as Mom, Grandma, Nana, GG or Tia. Nancy was born at home in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin on March 7, 1935, to Gerald and Gladys Foss. She married the love of her life, Louis R
Hernandez at his mother’s home on July 26, 1964, and they lived happily together until his
death in 2003.
During her life she was blessed with four beautiful children, many grandchildren, and great
grandchildren. Nancy worked as a revenue accountant at Buttes Resources Co., in Houston Texas
until her retirement in 1999. She and Louis then moved to Rowlett, Texas to spend their
retirement with their children and grandchildren. Nancy was loving, thoughtful, and never met a
stranger. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, and they would become fast friends.
Nancy had an amazing memory, she could tell you a story including what the weather was like,
who was there and the exact date that it happened. Nancy loved her family and closest friends,
she enjoyed spending holidays with them and going out to eat.
Nancy is survived by her siblings, sisters Pat (Frank) Spexarth and Mary Hernandez, her brother
Jim (Lillian) Gorichar, her daughters Cheryl (Ronnie) Leal, and Lynn (Kenny) Beville, her son Craig
(Diana) Hernandez, Grandchildren Kary (Brandon) Borski, Jason (Avery) Beville, Lucas
(Samantha) Beville, Kalyn, Carolyn and Charlie Hernandez, Great Grandchildren Andrew, Jacob,

years, Jill Scott and their families. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Gladys

We are forever grateful to the staff of Divinity Hospice out of Rockwall, TX, for all their kindness,
their compassion, and their continued support. We would especially like to thank her personal
caregiver, Ester, who made her feel pampered and beautiful, and of course to her nurse Patrick,
who was by our side through every moment of her journey. We are truly blessed to have them
in our hearts.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of beautiful Nancy Hernandez. We met during her last days. Through pain and restlessness, she offered me her hand in appreciation of my service, I took her hand, kissed and laid it by her side. A smile broke out on her face, she fell asleep and never spoke to me again. Priceless moment!
