It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of John Charles Tomp on the 1st of September, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. John was born in Morenci, Arizona in 1960, the second child of Edward and Margaret Tomp.

At the age of five, John and his family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, where he attended Ss. Simon & Jude Elementary School, continued through Washington High School, and eventually on to Arizona State University.

Upon graduating, John embarked on a career at the New Times newspaper, initially in Phoenix and later in Dallas, Texas. He went on to establish his own business in Dallas, a venture that he enthusiastically managed until his untimely passing.

John's life was a gift to his family, who will deeply miss his love and humor. He will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his siblings James, Mary (KJ), Tom (Sarah), and Edward (Laura), as well as his aunts, Mrs. Ida Vukovich and Sister Mary Frances Simons. John's memory will also be cherished by a multitude of nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers, each touched by his warmth and kindness.

A funeral service to remember John's life will be held at 10 AM on Friday, the 19th of January 2024, at Ss. Simon & Jude Cathedral in Phoenix. His remains will be interred at 11 AM on Saturday, the 20th of January, at Resthaven Cemetery in Glendale.

A celebration of Life will be held at Campisi's in Dallas, TX, January 17, 2024, 5:30pm to 8pm.
