Julie Marie Watts Burnett

Julie Marie Watts Burnett was born on May 22 nd , 1967, in Dallas, Tx., her parents being Richard George
Watts, Jr., and Virginia Bonita Watts (nee Breeding, and later Black). Julie went to bed on Sunday,
December 3 rd , 2023, and she did not awaken Monday morning, having peacefully departed from this
realm during the night. She was discovered the morning of Monday, December 4 th , 2023, at home, and
although her boyfriend, Greg Edwards, was able to call for assistance, it was to no avail.
Julie lived mostly in the Dallas area and she led a life with a considerable amount of variety. She
enjoyed some success as a waitress, a wheel and tire saleswoman, and a key employee at a successful
small business that specialized in decorative household items and had an international market. She
married several times and enjoyed periods of great happiness. Sadly, her longest marriage ended with
her husband’s untimely death.
Julie will be remembered for the sweetness of her heart and her loving personality. Julie enjoyed
helping people who were sick or down in spirit, she would have been an excellent nurse had she chosen
that path. She recently eased her sister through a time of great pain and discomfort, staying by her side
constantly, and helped her heal.
Julie had a bountiful sense of humor, she loved to laugh and had the ability to get others laughing at
just about any time. Julie could completely change the atmosphere of a situation with the look on her
face and just a few words, and at her best she was very charming and usually the center of attention.
Julie was gifted with people and she was a very beautiful woman. Julie will be sorely missed by those
who knew and loved her.
In September Julie went to North Carolina and was required to become her Mother’s caretaker. Her
Mother was deathly ill. Julie set her entire life aside and focused exclusively on helping her. She stayed
with her all day every day for a month and saw to her every need, and did for her the things she could
no longer do for herself. Everyone who interacted with Julie during this time spoke of her compassion
and servitude in glowing terms. Eventually Julie had to go back home and a week later her Mother died.
Julie touched many lives and at times her love and presence were a Godsend, but for that month in
North Carolina our Julie was truly an Angel come to Earth, and now she is an Angel in Heaven, with her
Mom and Dad and many other wonderful people who got there first.
Julie is survived by her boyfriend Greg Edwards, her life sister and staunchest ally Sheila Peyton, her
brother Joseph Watts and her sister-in-law Jennifer Watts, and their son and daughter, Paige and Justin
Watts. Julie had the good fortune to enjoy the benefits of two Moms and is survived by Nancy Boyd
Watts Coppock, her other Mom. Julie is also survived by a loving group of extended family members
including Aunts and Uncles David Boyd and Marla Edwards Boyd, Johnny Brown and Susan Boyd Brown,
and Janith Boyd, and cousins Christopher Boyd, Brad Boyd, Aaron Perkins, Tonya Brown Ornelas, Daniel
Ornelas, Kathryn De Armas, and Victoria Ornelas.
There will be a memorial service for Julie Marie on Saturday, December 16 th , 2023, at 1:00PM. It will be
held at Samaria Baptist Church, 1224 E. Bowen St., Van Alstyne, Tx., 75495.
