Ed Meeks

A LIFE WELL LIVED, a man who touched so many lives. He was a collector of friends, a
teacher of numerous talents, a perpetual student of all things to do with cars, mechanics, motors,
boats, and wood. His love for woodwork, hunting and fishing was only trumped by his love for
his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Ed was born in Dallas and left this earth to be with his maker just a few days shy of his 91 st
birthday. He was surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife,
Anna Meeks and son, Daniel Meeks.

Ed graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. He served in the US Navy during the Korean
Conflict, then followed in his father’s footsteps to run Meeks Garage on Haskell Street for some
time. He then worked for the City of Dallas, leading a department tasked with developing and
implementing city ordinances to protect consumers from automotive repair fraud. His
involvement in the automotive industry took him all over the country, where he advised other
municipalities in developing similar ordinances.

Ed’s wonderful sense of humor was legendary! He coined many funny idioms which were
adopted by family and friends. They will bring smiles and memories to all who continue to use
them. Many of his friendships date back to his elementary and high school days. He cherished
these friendships and nourished them to his last days.

Ed leaves a big void in our midst! He will be so missed by those who loved him.
