Linda Kay Scott

Linda Kay Scott, beloved mother, nana and friend, died peacefully at home on March 29, 2023.

A rosary will be held in remembrance on Monday, April 3 at Eastgate Funeral home in Garland

from 5:00-7:00. On Tuesday, April 4 at 11:00, the funeral mass will take place at Saint Michael

the Archangel Catholic Church in Garland and the rite of Christian burial will follow at Calvary

Hill Cemetery in Dallas at 1:00.

A native Dallas-site, Linda was born on October 18,1942 to Russell Bailey “R.B.” and Dorothy

Scott. She was raised and educated in the Catholic faith, and her lifelong devotion was evident

through her service in her parish community. Linda’s involvement at St. Michael the Archangel

Catholic Church included helping the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, teaching Confraternity of

Christian Doctrine (CCD) classes and countless hours of helping financially struggling

parishioners find the resources they needed.

Linda established a successful career for 30 years in fashion merchandising and buying at J.C.

Penny. Her indisputable work ethic took her far in life, whether it be pacing the J.C. Penny

floors, working in the yard, or caring for her friends and family. Linda enjoyed the beach, Sudoku

puzzles and having a cold margarita and a laugh with her good friends, many of whom she met

in grade school.

Known as Mom, Nana, and Aunt Linda, Linda possessed an unwavering dedication and loyalty

to her family. She is preceded in death by daughters Cynthia Allen and Susan Evans, parents

Russell Baily “R.B.” and Dorothy Scott, and sister and brother Patricia Shaw and Leo Scott. She

is survived by her daughter Angela Ellison, grandsons Steven Allen (Mackenzie), Brian Allen,

Donald Mellenbruch (Ashley), granddaughters Renee Mosher (Johnathon), Lauren Allen,

Emily Cathey and Lindee Ellison as well as great grandchildren Haylee Mosher, Hadley Mellenbruch, Dominic

Mosher and Dax Mellenbruch.

To know Linda was to love her, and her self-sacrificing spirit, her generous nature and her

mischievously quick wit will never be forgotten. She will be greatly missed here on this Earth,

but will live forever in our hearts and share eternal life in Heaven with all those who have gone

before her. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus

our Lord.” – Romans 6:23

Rest peacefully, Saint Linda.
