Leslie Karen Land went home to Jesus November 7, 2022 after a sudden illness. She is survived by her
only sister, Janis Land Osborne of Dallas, as well as several cousins and some devoted friends.
She was born in Dallas, Texas October 24, 1952 to Leslie Harold and Marybelle Land. She was a lifelong
Texan, living in Dallas, Austin and Mesquite.
Leslie was strong in faith, and became a Christian in 1965. Her love of nature resulted in yard projects,
growing a variety of plants and vegetables, dog training and later a small parrot collection. In her earlier
years she worked with children with Down’s Syndrome. Her last professional position was as a medical
transcriptionist. She was a member of the Mesquite Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association from
2017-2019. Leslie was musically gifted and played several instruments, including flute, strings and
drums. Musician Leon Russell, vintage movies, tv crime programs, actor Brendan Coyle of Downton
Abbey and her recumbent bike were among her many favorite things.
She will be truly missed by her family and friends. Special thanks go to Baylor Hospital for their attentive
care in difficult days. A small private memorial service will be held for Leslie. In lieu of flowers, friends
are welcome to contribute to the charity of their choice in her memory . Arrangements are under the
direction of Eastgate Funeral Home of Garland. Online condolences can be made at

Janis, what a beautiful story of Leslie's life. I met Leslie when we both enrolled in the Mesquite Citizens Police Academy. She had a great sense of humor and I was drawn to her because she was so personable. I recall that she told great stories about your dad and their conversations. May your memories of her comfort you until you see her again.

Dear Janis, I was great buddies with your sister, Karen back in 7th grade at Reinhardt Elementary. We shared many fun times. I had attended Kiest until 6th grade, but districts redrawing territories forced me to a new school. Karen was kind to a shy, awkward kid. I must mention, to me, Karen was quite cool! Her artistic flair was so apparent. I loved knowing her and my thoughts and memories are rich. Such a shame we lost touch at Gaston. Looking at her picture, so wonderful to see she still had that unique & beautiful smile and darling hair. My goodness, she was cool! I thank God for my sweet memories of Karen. All my love to you moving forward. Joan McKinney Wilkinson
