David Roach

Little David was born on November 6th 1959 to Raymond and Maxine Roach . He was born at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Little David was preceded by older brother Tommy. David attended Bayles Elementary school. He played football for the Bayles Bobcats. In the final game of the year, David broke his leg near the end of the game. But his team went on to get the win! On Monday the class was viewing game highlights. David hobbled in on crutches and the whole class lit up with cheers! This was a happy memory that David would recall for many years. David lettered in football at Balyes. He played BBI (boys city league) for many years. On each team, David was one of the top batters. He made many lifelong friends through these leagues, boys that attended schools from all over the area. David attended JL Long Junior High. He played baseball for the Buccaneers, starting both his 8th and 9th grade years. David was a fierce batter. He was totally fearless at the plate. While in the eighth grade, a 9th grade pitcher tried to get him to step out of the box, but David took him on pitch after pitch. In frustration the pitcher threw it straight into David's face. David sustained a severe facial injury, but remained undaunted continuing to play through his 9th grade year. Fearless, I tell you! David lettered in baseball at Long. He attended Skyline High School. David played baseball for the Raiders all three years. He as one of only two Sophomore starters on the Varsity team and he was the only Sophomore to letter that year. He went on to letter all three years in his high school baseball career. Just for a quick moment, if you played baseball, on David's team or any other team, stand briefly for us please. He went to work for Southwestern Bell in 1981. He began his career as a directory assistance operator at the young age of 21 years old. David soon earned his way out of the office and into the field. He was a proud member of the CWA union for many years. David was a perpetual leader in the fewest repeat repair calls and in fact David was typically sent out to fix repeat calls for other repairmen in his garage. David went on to have an illustrious 31 year career AT&T. In December 1978 David attended a fateful Dallas Cowboys watching party at the home of Stan Smith and Deane Bowen. The story goes like this. Tricia Moon was standing in the dining room overlooking Stan's poker game. The door opened and three guys walk in. Tricia says to Stan, "Hey man! Who's your friend?" Stan answers, "David Roach." Tricia said, "How do you know which one I'm talking about?" Stan says, "All the girls like David Roach." Stan introduced them that day and the rest is proverbial history. David and Tricia were married on June 15, 1991. This was quickly followed by the birth of three beautiful children. Caroline, Daddy's girl, was born on May 19, 1993. Steve, the kind one, was born on May 11, 1995. Sam, Tricia's mini-me, was born on April 6th, 1996. You do the math..... While the two realized they didn't match up in marriage, they continued to make every imaginable effort to put differences aside and raise their three kids together. Together they've done a remarkable job of remaining close friends. David retired from AT&T in 2012. Against most folks' recommendation, David opened a small business. Not very many people thought David had the wherewithal to own his own business. He has certainly proved everyone wrong! Vapor'D has sustained growth as an individually owned small business. It is continuing to grow and thrive. David loved his many cats. He was very much a humanitarian when it comes to animals and was an avid fan of Harley Davidson. He loved to ride his hog. He bought all the biker leathers and loved to ride in style. Above all else, David loved his family. He greatly missed Daddy every day. David loved Mother very much. He would regularly hang out with his brother Tommy. The mere mention of children and David's face would light the room! Caroline was his W. Steve was his H. And Sam was his Y. David's children were his WHY in everything he did. He will be greatly missed by his family for a long time to come. Rest in Peace
