Gaynell Lea Setliff

Gaynell Lea Setliff passed away at home on March 17, 2019. She was 86 years old. She is survived by her children; Bobby, Patty and her husband Paul, Janis, Tara, Sandy and her husband Ryan, Jimmy and his wife Samantha, 6 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was so proud of each of her children and grandchildren and had special and loving relationships with her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Gary and sister Pauline. Her husband, Jim, died August 31, 2017. They were inseparable. He has been waiting with open arms. Gaye was born April 10, 1932 in Raymondville, Missouri to Paul Medlock and Oda Addington Medlock. She graduated from Lindsay High School. It was in high school that she first showed her spirit, organizing the students and challenging the school's "no dance" policy. They had their first dance! She met her husband, Jim, in Austin, Texas. They raised their children in Austin, Garland, Huntsville, Ala., Midland and Richardson, Texas, where they retired. She taught the Bethel Bible Series in Midland, where she worked at the College Bookstore. She and Jim loved their church family at Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. She was so proud to be a Daughter of the King and truly loved her fellow "daughters." She was a devoutly faithful woman and a true mother; not just to her own children, but to all babies, children, and dogs. There was always enough food and always a warm place to sleep for anyone she met. She taught us grace and grit and how to laugh. When you came to our mom's home, you were surely going to be fed. We ask, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Alzheimer's research at ALZ.org. We are so grateful mom and dad are together again.
