JAIME "JIM" SANCHEZ-MONTEALVO

Jim Sanchez passed away peacefully at the age of 99 on Friday, March 1, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born November 28, 1919, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Nicolas Tolentino Sanchez and Dolores Montealvo Sanchez. He was the youngest of 10 children, having 3 brothers and 6 sisters. Following the death of his mother at a very young age, and because of the political instability in Mexico at the time, he was sent to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to live with his older brothers who had established a small business there. After graduating from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, he returned to Mexico where he began working with his sisters who owned a small family business. Having helped with the family businesses as a boy in Milwaukee and later on as a young man in Mexico City, he developed an ardent desire to become a business entrepreneur. As a business entrepreneur he was involved in many and varied ventures. In Mexico City in the 1950's he manufactured woman's apparel, representing American fashion brands in Mexico such as Bobbie Brooks. In the 1970's he marketed and exported silver hollowware products from Mexico to the U.S. and throughout the world. Then in the mid 1980's Jim acquired an electric vehicle manufacturing business in Guadalajara and moved there with his wife. In 2005 Jim and his wife moved to Dallas to retire and to be near their children and grandchildren. He enjoyed painting and was an avid golfer. As a golfer he earned the distinction of having made the first hole in one at the Club de Golf Hacienda in Mexico City. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Louise Sanchez. He is survived by his three children, Jimmy Sanchez and wife Diane, Bobby Sanchez and wife Gwen, and Susan Sanchez Murphy and husband Ed; three grandchildren, Rob Sanchez and wife Ellie, Alexis Martinez and husband Antonio, and Laura Arizmendi and husband Gabriel; six great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Carolina, Eva, Sofia, Benicio, and Camila; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 22, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Road in Dallas. Interment will be at the St. Joseph Columbarium, 600 S. Jupiter Road in Richardson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association. http://www.alz.org
