Ann Elizabeth Cadigan

"That's water under the bridge" was the simple life philosophy of Ann Elizabeth Cadigan, who was called to heaven on December 27, 2014 after a brief illness. In other words: "Don't sweat the small stuff!" Born Ann Elizabeth Creel on June 15, 1925 in Dallas, Texas, Ann was the second of three daughters born to Doma and Mary Creel. She graduated from St Edward's Academy in Dallas and attended the University of Texas at Austin majoring in English. At UT she met the love of her life (and future husband) George F Cadigan. Married in 1949, the couple bought a home in Dallas and soon had a household of four children to raise. During this time, she also looked after the children of her older sister who worked during the day. The assemblage of children gave her the endearing name of "Mommy Ann" which she accepted with pride. As the children grew older, Ann began to work outside the home with careers at Hermetic Seal Corporation in Garland, the Tejas Girl Scout Council, Presbyterian Hospital, and the Visiting Nurses Association of Dallas. But the "job" at which she most excelled was as a loving mother and grandmother. Through the countless illnesses of her children and grandchildren, school projects, broken bones, and difficult situations she was always there with a gentle and loving touch. She will be missed beyond our poor ability to put into words. Ann is preceded in death by her mother and father Mary and Doma Creel, her sisters Rita Creel Woodside and Patricia Creel Cmar, and her husband, George F Cadigan, Jr. She is survived by her four children, Jerry Cadigan of Dallas, and Mark Cadigan, Mary Ann Morton, and Sharon Woodward all of Garland. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Kevin Cadigan, Ryan Walker, Troy Walker, Krystina Woodward, Zachary Woodward, Kathleen Cadigan, Trevor Cadigan, and Erin Cadigan. She is survived also by numerous nephews and nieces including Greg Woodside, Mary Rita Woodside Young, Ben Thomas Woodside, David Woodside, Donald Woodside (deceased), and Michael Cmar. Her extended family of in-laws, relatives and close acquaintances mourn the passing of her gentle soul. The family requests that donations be made to the Bishop Lynch High School Scholarship Fund.
