Bonnie Chesser

Bonnie Bess Baker Chesser of Dallas, Texas was called home to heaven on December 29, 2018. She was born in Indian Springs, Indiana on April 19, 1931 to Drass Ray and Bessie Schmidt Baker. She spent her childhood on the farm, attending and graduating school in Shoals, Indiana. Following graduation, Bonnie moved to Lockhart, Texas, where she met Joe Brown Chesser and on September 16, 1950, the two were married in a double wedding ceremony with Bonnie's cousin. They made their home in Beaumont, Texas. In Beaumont, Bonnie and Joe attended North End Baptist Church where they made lifelong friends at the church and in their neighborhood. Bonnie served as a GA Leader at the church. She worked at the telephone company until they began their family. In 1969, the family moved to Dallas, where Bonnie was a stay-at-home mom, making drapes until the kids graduated high school. Following, she began a job with Sun Oil Company and worked 11 years, until retirement. Bonnie and Joe continued to worship, first at Casa View Baptist Church, Dallas then at First Baptist Church, Garland. Bonnie loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress. She made beautiful quilts, many for her children and grandchildren. She loved working in the yard. Bonnie also enjoyed walking daily, as long as she was able. She was a great cook. Most important, Bonnie was a good Wife and Mother. Bonnie is survived by her husband of 68 years, Joe Brown Chesser, Son David Lewis Chesser and Wife Karol, Son Douglas Howard Chesser and Wife Denise, Daughter Carolyn Chesser Vandagriff and Husband Mark; eight Grandchildren, Kimberly Chesser Lombardi (Greg), Stephen Chesser (Ashley), Jonathan Chesser, Matthew Chesser (Rebecca), Phillip Chesser (Amber), Cooper Goldstein, Dane Goldstein and Audrey Goldstein; and nine Great-Grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association. A funeral service in memory of our dearest Bonnie will be held on at 11:00AM with visitation an hour prior on Friday, Jan. 4,2019 at First Baptist Church of Garland 801 W Ave. D Garland, TX 75040.
