Doyle Herlocker Fugitt

Doyle Herlocker Fugitt died Tuesday, December 16 at the age of 84. "Cookie", to her grandchildren, was a woman who won the hearts of everyone she met. She was a great conversationalist who spent her adult life in Greenville, Austin, Longview and Dallas. Doyle traveled all over the U.S. and lived for a time in Mexico City (where she was known to enjoy the bullfights). She attended Stephens College in Missouri, East Texas State and Dallas Business School. Doyle worked for a time at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. She managed and owned a pharmacy in Palestine, Texas. Doyle loved being a grandmother, loved Latin Art and enjoyed nature and the outdoors. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and a member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas. Doyle will be missed by many friends and relatives including her daughters, Doyle Dietz Allen and Julia Dietz Beckel; her brother, Bob Herlocker and her sister, Julia Gibson; her sons-in-law: Tom Allen, Floyd Beckel and Harold Dixson; her grandchildren James Douglas Dixon, Arthur William Dietz Beckel and Julia Elizabeth Dietz Beckel, Great grandchildren James and Jennie Dixson. She was preceded in death by daughters Jennie Wells Dixson and Katherine Francis Fugitt, and husbands Oscar Leon Dietz, Jr. and Joe M. Fugitt. Leon, from Greenville, TX, was a pharmacist in Palestine TX. Joe, also from Greenville, was a real estate developer in Longview, TX. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11 A.M. in St. Michael Chapel at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 8011 Douglas Avenue, Dallas 75225.
