Eddy Victor passed away and returned to our Father December 8th after a valiant fight against a long history of vascular disease. As was always the case with Eddy, he joked and told stories until he couldn't any longer. In that sense, he went out on his own terms doing what he loved to do the most. Many knew Eddy as "Mr. KC" for the decades he spent in the cleaners and he was many things to many people over his 75 years. A son, a brother, a farmer, an athlete, a grand champion, a class favorite, a grocer, a story teller, a soldier, a husband, a builder, a dad, a coach, an uncle, a best friend, a master tinkerer and jack of all trades, a business owner, a grandpa, and a good man who was well known and respected in his community. Always creative and resourceful, he could take nearly anything sitting around the farm, the house, or the shop and turn it in to something useful. Throughout his life, he was the consummate story teller, embellishing just enough to make the story all the more personal and memorable. For those lucky enough to have crossed his path, I'm sure you've got a favorite story or saying you hold near and dear to your heart. True to his rural New Mexico roots, he remained a cowboy at heart throughout his entire life. He loved his country and guns, and I'm sure you've seen him around with his signature ostrich boots, western belt buckle, and Resistol hat. He was always open to sharing a cup of coffee and a smoke and never met a stranger. When he went anywhere in town, he'd always run into someone he knew and get to know someone new he hadn't known before. At times, it was like seeing a small town politician on the campaign trail - shaking hands and kissing babies. Eddy was survived by too many people who loved and cared for him to list them all here, but on behalf of Celia, Cindy, Sandy, and Michael, please join the family for a memorial service at Eastgate Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 13th at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. In the spirit in which Eddy would choose to be honored, boots and jeans are requested, but not required. After the memorial service, please join family and friends at the home of Sandy Sawyer located at 3410 Ashwood Circle in Sachse. Eddy's body will be interned at a separate service at DFW National Cemetery on Monday, December 15th at 11:00 AM with the military honors he earned. All are welcome to attend either event.
