Jean Hurst

Jean Hurst, age 81, of Wylie, Texas passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 7, 2018 at 6:30 a.m. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jack Hurst; her son Kenneth Hurst; daughter-in-law, Donna Hurst; granddaughter, Amanda Hard; and husband, Nathan Hard; sister Jolene Hartman; and brother-in-law, Ernie Hartman. Jean was born July 20, 1937 in Pittsburg, Kan. to the late James Nelson Story and Eunice May Schmidt. She was the oldest of two children and has one sister, Jolene. Jean married Jack Hurst on May 28,1955 at the First Nazarene Church in Pittsburg, Kan. Jean and Jack moved to Wichita, Kan, where they both worked for Boeing Aircraft, Jean as a secretary and Jack as a technician. They later moved to Fort Smith, Ark. and Los Angeles, Calif. where they both worked for several years. Their last move was to Dallas, Texas where they bought their first home and worked for Texas Instruments. Jean and Jack attended First Baptist Church in Dallas where the pastor was the renowned W. A. Criswell. They both attended Sunday school and participated in a variety of church activities. Jean loved all dogs, but she especially loved little dogs. She raised Tina, Tinkerbell, Princess and Molly and had four little loving companions that truly enriched her life. Jean also had outstanding writing skills and wrote some wonderful stories about her little dogs and her family. Jean dedicated her life to seeking the will of God and serving and loving her family. She was always ready to help any and all family members through the difficulties of life and comfort them in times of trouble. She truly loved all of her family. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Mon, 9/10 at the Eastgate Funeral Home, 1910 Eastgate Dr. in Garland, TX. The funeral will be at 2:00 pm on Tue, 9/11 at the Eastgate Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mesquite Cemetery, 400 Holly Park Drive in Mesquite, TX.
