On Thursday, July 19, 2018 Leo Franklin Hinds, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away at the age of 98 in Garland, Texas. Leo was born September 12, 1919 in Guymon, Oklahoma to Walter and Ida Hinds. He graduated from Guymon High School in 1938 and served in the Army Air Corps as a glider mechanic in WWII. On July 7, 1952 he married Clarice Ann Bauer in Raton, New Mexico. They raised two children together, Brian and Deborah. Leo was a life-long farmer in Guymon, Oklahoma until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed fishing and shooting in his spare time as well as traveling to see all 50 states. What gave him the most joy though was taking care of his family. Leo was preceded in death by his wife Clarice in 2009. He is survived by his son, Brian Hinds, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and his daughter, Deborah Norrid, of Garland, Texas. In addition are his grandchildren: Justin Wilmenth of Scottsdale AZ, Jessica Puga of Bethany OK, Major Jason Hinds of Leavenworth KS, Michael Serna of Dallas TX, Jacob Norrid of Amarillo TX, & Kaytla Norrid of Vernon CT, as well as his great-grandcildren, Adelaide Rose Hinds and Elowen Mae Hinds. The family will hold private services at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NRA.
