Jesse Buck Brodie. Born February 1, 1922 Kemp Oklahoma. Died December 9, 2016 Tyler Texas. Jesse Buck spent his childhood days in the North Texas countryside around Sherman and Denison. His father and namesake Jesse owned a Taxi Service in Denison. Father Jesse and mother Belle Perry Brodie raised 4 sons; Steve, Gerard, Bunton, and Jesse Buck and a daughter Nobie there in North Texas.

When WWII broke out, Jesse Buck joined the US Army and went on to become a Master Sergeant with the Second Division. Sgt. Brodie, wife Helen and their two children Steve and Pam went on to travel the world during Sgt. Brodie’s 20-year military service. After his military career Jesse and his family settled in Dallas where he started his second career forming “Brodie Signs” which endured through the 1980’s.

After his second retirement in the early 1990’s, he became active in the US Army Second Division Veterans Association serving as treasurer and helping organize bi-annual National Meetings around the country. At the turn of the century in 2000 Jesse looked back on his early life growing up in Texas and wrote a family treasure entitled “As I Seen It”

Jesse Buck Brodie passed away at The Watkins Logan Veterans Home in Tyler Texas after spending four good years surrounded by veterans and a caring support staff. The family extends their sincere thank you to the Watkins Logan staff and management for those special years.

After 94 years Jesse had outlived his parents, brothers and sister. His sprit lives on in his son Steven, daughter Pamela, grand sons Christopher and Bradley, great grandson Payton, and great granddaughters Jessica and Vivian Marshall. Although he never visited the family homeland; Jesse lived life to the fullest living up to his Irish heritage. He was a good soldier, a talented commercial artist, and a true Texan.
