Jeanette B. Rabaglia

Jeanette B. Rabaglia, 72, of Englewood, CO, died November 10, 2016 at Presbyterian Village North in Dallas, TX. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, the second child of John and Amelia LaRosa. She was educated in the New York City public schools. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1966 and a Master of Science in Education in 1969 both from Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, NY. She married John Rabaglia on Dec. 2, 1967. They have one child.

Jeanette was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years. She started her career teaching in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section in Brooklyn, NY and then at St. Finbar Elementary School also in Brooklyn. She taught elementary school in the Centennial School District, Warminster, PA for two years. She took a hiatus from her career when her husband’s job moved them to Beaumont, TX in the early 1970s where their daughter was born in 1975. The family moved to Connecticut in 1975 and ultimately to Denver in 1982. Jeanette eased back into her career in 1984 first as an assistant teacher then as a substitute teacher in the Cherry Creek School District. She became part of the Blessed Sacrament Elementary School family in 1992 where she taught 4th grade until she retired there in 2013.

She loved being a teacher and the connections that she made with her students each and every year, which numbered in the hundreds over the tenure of her career. She seemed to have an infinite capacity to embrace each and every one of them and know what they individually needed from her.

Jeanette appreciated good food and wine and the company of her friends. She enjoyed travel. Jeanette revered nature, especially the natural beauties of the Colorado mountains and streams and the lush beaches and crystal blue waters of Hawaii. She had a warm and wonderful smile that would light up a room and a gentle, welcoming manner that put even strangers at ease. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by her beloved husband John, their daughter Jennifer and her husband Kyle and their two children, Mia and Lauren, whom Jeanette loved dearly, all of whom reside in Dallas, TX. She also leaves her sister Marie and her family of Long Island, New York.

Jeanette was cremated in Dallas shortly after her passing. A vigil will be held for her on Friday December 9 at 7:00 PM at Blessed Sacrament Church in Denver, CO. A Funeral Mass will be conducted on December 10 at 11:00 AM also at Blessed Sacrament Church immediately followed by a reception at the adjacent Blessed Sacrament School.
