Eva Mae Ferguson (nee Brothers), age 90, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Tom Ferguson. She is survived by her children Shirley Smiley (Denver), Patrick Ferguson (Dallas), Cary and wife Anne Ferguson (Denver), and Shelley Ferguson (Dallas), as well as her sister Shirley Perdue, brother-in-law Bill Ferguson, both of Roanoke, VA, and many nieces and nephews. Eva was born and raised in Roanoke, graduating high school early with a finely developed artistic talent. She began her lifelong career as a photographic color artist and met Tom, a photographer, while working in Roanoke’s most successful photo studios. They moved to Texas and opened their first studio in Oak Cliff in 1949. Eva’s color work services were sought after by prominent photographers in Dallas, New Orleans, and Baton Rouge. In 1973, Tom and Eva opened The Copy Shop, their studio specializing in the copy and restoration of old photographs in the Olla Podrida mall in North Dallas. They retired in 1995. Besides her beautiful painting, Eva enjoyed time with her children, traveling, and our many family pets.
