Tom Carlos Williams

Tom C. Williams of Garland was born in Bonifay Florida June 2, 1932 and went home to be with the Lord on October 8, 2016 at his home in Garland. He is survived by his new bride of 11 months Bettye Williams; his three sons and their wives; Brent and Susan Williams of Rowlett, Scott and Tonja Williams of Forney, Blake and Melissa Williams of Royce City.

Tom had 6 grandchildren; Jeremiah Williams his fiancée’ Jessica Jamieson, Dustin Williams, Marranie McBride her husband Jonathan, Amber Williams, Andee Williams and Sydne Morgan; as well as two sisters; Evelyn Whitaker of Panama City FL, and Annie Thompson of Bonifay Fl.

He was preceded in death by hisfather and mother Ernest and Lela Williams, his wife of 56 years Bessie Bell Hughes Williams, 4 brothers and 6 sisters.

Tom came to Texas in 1953 chasing his high school sweetheart and his dreams. Tom immediately found work at Dallas Power and Light and began to work his way through the ranks from storeroom worker, to lineman, then foreman and finally a supervisor. Tom worked with DPL and later TU Electric for 40 years.

He has been a faithful follower of Christ for all his adult life, serving at Orchard Hills Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Garland. Tom served as a deacon, High School boys Sunday school teacher, RA leader and most recently a high capacity volunteer at the Friendship House in Garland.

Tom has always been an example to young teenage men both in his work at the church and his work in coaching sports and specifically football in the Garland Pee Wee Association.

He had a love for camping, gardening, travelling, riding his bike and just about anything outside and active, but always built around being with family.

Visitation will be from 6-8 PM,October 12, 2016, at Eastgate Funeral Home, 1910 Eastgate Dr., Garland.

Funeral service will be 10 AM, Thursday, October 13, 2016, in the Chapel of First Baptist Church, 801 W. Ave D, Garland.
