Sisters: Helen Frye, Clara Sims, Nancy Brown, Carolyn Hill, Donna Allison, and Judy Griffin. And a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly as well. KK born and grew up on farms in OK, then she moved with her family to NM. Katheryn was both physically and spiritually beautiful and she caught the attention of many. While in NM, Katheryn worked in a soda shop in Carlsbad and a Dry Cleaners in Hagerman. Her eyes would gleam as she shared about how she proudly purchased a set of plates at the 'Five and Dime' with her very 1st paycheck. She married in Roswell NM, giving birth to both sons while in NM. In time the family moved to TX where her daughter was born in Midland. KK loved her children and always considered them some of her truest blessings. She once said, "Every decision I ever made considered what was best for them.....even if they didnt know it" Through out her life, KK worked various jobs. Nothing was beneath her, she did what was needed and what ever was required to meet needs. In Midland, she worked in the School Cafeteria and Johnny's BBQ. In Lubbock, she was employed by Wards and also did some volunteer work for Crisis Hotlines. In Muleshoe, she sold Avon, delivered milk, and worked a short time for 'The Muleshoe News'. Returning to Midland, she even was a tour guide for 'Willie the Whale'. KK would laugh when sharing her story about Willie the Whale. She completed almost 20 years as a Ward Clerk at Midland Memorial Hospital before she retired. Katheryn's love for gardening, drawing, art, and sewing, landscapes and trees, stayed with her through out life. She loved a healthy food crop, harvesting, and the preparation and sharing of the bounty. Growing up on a farm, she also had a great respect for all animals. She told stories about little piglets, chickens, and how if one would simply watch, the animals can teach so much. She also had a great desire for education and knowledge. She often spoke of how complimented she felt when her Teacher asked her to compete in a State math competition. KK adored spending time with children. She was a person who would 'play' and immensely enjoyed youthful innocence. She was known as a second Mom to many of her siblings and they speak of the ever lasting gifts she gave them. Katheryn is famous for her paper dolls, doodling, vivid imagination and her love of Figs. She made the newspaper for growing broccoli and was ever so proud of her prize tomatoes. In the 60's she hand made quilting stars which are now being incorporated into quilts for each of her Grandchildren. One of her most prized possessions is a hand made quilt from her mother. Everyone fell in love with Kathryn's beautiful spirit and she made friendships that lasted a lifetime. She touched many people and always made them feel special. There are many special memories where she put her life on hold to help others. Her heart felt commitment to people was extraordinary. What Katheryn considered as special gifts, were not of material gain, but of spiritual reward. Katheryn filled her life with Jesus and her Bible is thread bare from her studies. She wishes to be remembered as living in Gods name, what joys she created, the love and happiness shared, and how she appreciated all the gifts of life on earth. Rejoice as her life is now renewed.
