Donald Murl Rains, Sr., born November 6th, 1933, passed away late Friday evening, July 6th, 2018 at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Dorothy Rains, his son Donald Rains, Jr., his daughter-in-law Rose Mary Rains, his granddaughters Danielle and Nicole Rains and his sister Kylethia Kyser-Bostick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everette Rains and Lucille Daniel Rains and his brothers Billy and Lanny Rains. Don grew up in the country near Terrell, Texas. He served in the army from 1955-1957. Then he moved to Garland, Texas to work at Inter-Continental Manufacturing as a lead supervisor. There he met the love of his life Dorothy Reed and the two married in 1959. A year later they had their son Donald Rains, Jr. Don enjoyed fishing, going to the casinos, and playing bingo with his wife Dorothy. He also loved to spend time with his family and friends. He spent most of his life helping raise kids, not just his own. Don cared for his sister Kylethia and brothers Billy and Lanny while they grew up, as well as his nephews Clint and Mark Rains and his granddaughters Danielle and Nicole. His family called him the patriarch of the Rains family. The Rains family spent every Thanksgiving and Christmas at Don and Dorothy's home in Garland, Texas. He will be deeply missed.
