Roberta Hartness

Tommye Roberta Porter Hartness of Mesquite, Texas was 81 years old when she died on April 27th, 2018 at 2:35 P.M. She died at Seasons Hospice Inpatient Center in Dallas, Texas of acute respiratory failure due to aspiration and pneumonia.

Roberta was born on October 5th, 1936 in Pecos, Texas to John Robert (Ted) Porter and Della Roberta Bradford. She was the fourth child of six, with five brothers. She married Samuel Smith Hartness, Jr. on November 26th, 1954 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She was a housewife and mother to five children, two boys and three girls. She and her husband raised their family in Mesquite, Texas.

Roberta grew up in Pecos and attended Pecos High School. Although she did not graduate, she received her G.E.D. in 1971 in Mesquite. She was raised in a Southern Baptist home and became a Christian at a young age. She taught her children the Word and to love the Lord.

Roberta was survived by her husband, Samuel Hartness, and her five children — John Samuel Hartness (with three daughters), Cemelia Ann McDaniel (with one daughter), Randy Lynn Hartness. Ronova Keerikoolparn (with a husband and three sons), and Stacie Mardell Williams (with two sons, two daughters, and a grandson). She is also survived by her brothers — Ted Porter and David Porter.
