Kenneth Ray Brown

Ken was born in San Diego, California on July 11, 1949 and passed away on April 10, 2018.

He is survived by his four children Shana, Nick, Paul, and Jessica and eight grandchildren Steven, Kurdt, Michael, Josie, Jonathan, Haylie, Jude, and Mark.

His great love for his family was expressed in many different ways but could be all summed up by family first.

He had a passion for science fiction, westerns, and country music. He also had a deep love for God and in his last few years studied the Bible perhaps more closely than he ever had before.

Ken was raised in San Diego, California alongside his two siblings Larry and Janet.

He met his wife, Alice, while at a singles event through church. When he first asked his future wife to marry him, she turned him down, afraid that he would regret not ever having kids. He lovingly replied to her by saying that if God wanted them to have children they would.

They were married on October 28, 1978 in Springfield, Missouri where they lived on a small farm. In later years they raised their children in Independence, Kansas.

Children loved him whether they were his or not and everyone joked about his “magic shoulder” which put any young child to sleep.

Though he fought hard against his illness, he also expressed joy knowing he would soon be with God and his wife.

Acts 2:25-28- “ I know the Lord is always with me, I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me. No wonder my heart is filled with joy, and my mouth shouts His praise!

My body rests in hope. For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your Holy One to rot in the grave. You have shown me the way of life, and you will give me wonderful joy in your presence.”
