Troy Earl Simpkins, loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed from this life to eternal glory in Heaven on February 18, 2018. Born on August 14, 1936 in Stamford, Texas to Earl Gaines and Autney, Troy was the oldest of 8 children. On December 13, 1967, Troy married his wife of 42 years, Pat. Troy and Pat had one daughter, Cindy, a son-in-law Daniel, and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Joshua, and Sarah Beth.

Troy worked hard first in floor covering, then in insurance. Once he retired, Troy drove school buses for 17 years. Troy always stayed busy. He enjoyed the senior center, especially playing pool and 42. He also enjoyed attending concerts and theater.Troy was an active member of Calvary Church in Irving since 1984. Accepting Christ changed his life.

Troy was friendly and never met a stranger. Troy gave food to the homeless and prayers to the sick. He loved life and lived life to the fullest. Even at 81, he never retired from driving school buses and even walked a mile a day.

The viewing will be at Grace Street Fellowship Church 1516 West Pioneer Parkway Arlington, Texas 76013 Thursday, February 22 at 10:00 am, with the funeral directly following at 11:00 am. The burial will be at DFW National Cemetery at 10:00 am on Friday February 23, 2018.
