Richard Earl Kemmerly

Richard Earl Kemmerly is now in the arms of Jesus. He crossed over into Heaven on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in his Dallas residence.

Richard was born on March 8, 1938 in Wichita Falls, Texas. The son of Austin and Mary Belle Orion, he grew up in Wichita Falls, graduated high school there and went on to attend Midwestern College. Richard also served his country in the United States Army, discharging with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Richard married Gayle Deemer, his high school sweetheart, on April 5, 1957. Gayle was his biggest supporter through all of Richard’s adventures that included owning an oil drilling company and purchasing both an oil drilling company and a used car lot. For 27 years, Richard maintained a food booth at the State Fair of Texas called “Tornado Taters”. This became a very important part of his life.

Richard had a love of fast cars and fast boats. His “go-to” place was Possum Kingdom Lake.

Richard also loved his church family at Marsh Lane Baptist Church, where he was a member for a number of years.

Richard’s family and especially watching his grandchildren growing up were sources of joy for him. Along with his family, Richard greatly valued the friendships he developed over the years.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 49-1/2 years, Gayle.

Treasuring Richard’s love and memory are: his wife, Marcia Allen Kemmerly of Dallas; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori Voirin and Mike Voirin; his grandchildren Landry and Peyton Voirin; and his stepchildren Robin Hinkler and Tim Allen.

A Celebration of Richard’s Life will commence at 11:00AM at the Marsh Lane Baptist Church, 10716 Marsh Lane in Dallas. Family will receive friends one hour prior.
