Richard Paul Fitzgerald

Richard Paul Fitzgerald, age 89, of Dallas passed away after a short illness on September 12, 2017. Richard was born, raised and educated in Manchester, Connecticut. His parents were Michael F. and Jinny Donze Fitzgerald. After high school Richard joined the Air Force and participated in the Berlin Airlift of 1948/1949 and served in the Korean War of 1952. Richard served in the Air Force for over 17 years and lived all over the world. First coming to Dallas in the mid 70's, he married Mary Margaret Burns Marks in 1999. Richard was employed by the Southland Corporation (7-Eleven) for over 40 years eventually becoming Art Curator. He became contract Art Curator in 1998.Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Margaret in Dallas, brother Robert Fitzgerald and sister Jinny Lappen of Manchester, Connecticut, son Michael (Catherine) of Weymouth, Massachusetts, step-daughter Patricia Newman of Maryville, Tennessee, stepsons Paul Burns (Josie) of Allen, Texas and Leroy Burns (Betty) of Coldspring, Texas, his grandson John Fitzgerald (Sara), step-granddaughters Sherry Nicholas (Shawn) of Plano, Texas and Amy Cunningham (Wade) of Allen, Texas. Great-granddaughters are Surya, Alina and Cleo Fitzgerald, Emily Newman, Hannah and Bonnie Nicholas and Chloe and Caitlin Cunningham. He also leaves behind many dear friends and co-workers.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Richard on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 2-4 pm at the Eastgate Funeral Home located at 1910 Eastgate Drive, Garland, Texas 75041.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriners International, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Fl.33607 or your favorite charity.
