Eleanor Jane Mendonca, age 90, passed peacefully in her sleep with her family at her side and was received into the loving arms of our Father on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 in Plano, Texas.

Jenny, as her friends and family knew her, was born Eleanor Jane Carvalho to William and Mary Souza Carvalho in Hanamaulu, Kauai, Hawaii on January 23, 1927.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and recent great-grandmother having lived a full and rewarding life is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, William Carvalho and Howard Carvalho, and husband of 54 years, Lawrence Anthony Mendonca. She is survived by her sister Ethel Ornellas, son, Lawrence Anthony Mendonca Jr. and wife Imelda, daughter, Pamela J. Mendonca McFadden and husband Dwight, grandchildren, Christine Wilhelm and husband Steven, Lawrence Mendonca III and wife Susan, Chester Aguila, Khrystal Mendonca, and great-granddaughter, Natalia Wilhelm.

Eleanor is a graduate of the Honolulu Business College and has spent all of her work hours in the insurance business as an adjuster helping people recover losses. She has worked for Brainard and Black Co. and Fireman’s Fund Insurance in Hawaii and Fireman’s Fund Insurance in Dallas, Texas where she retired.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 3, 2017, with a rosary starting at 7:30 p.m. at Eastgate Funeral Home in Dallas. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Pius X Church in Dallas. Interment will follow at DFW National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
