Ernest Murray

Ernest Murray, age 75, passed away on July 18, 2016 in Rockwall Texas. Ernest was born in Reidsville Georgia on April 27, 1941 to George Dewey and Lonie Bell Murray. After graduating from high school Ernest enlisted in the Army. In 1962 he married the love of his life, Elsie Odom and they started a family. His military service took him to various locations throughout the world. When Ernest got out of the Army he went to work for Burnham Van Line as a over the road truck driver. In 1973 Ernest decided that the family should move to Texas. They survived a torrential rainstorm to get to Dallas but after many miles they arrived. Ernest took a job with National Life Insurance where he worked for many years eventually becoming a district manager. In 1983 Ernest opened an independent insurance agency in Arlington Texas. In 1990 Ernest decided there was so much he had not seen and went back to his first love as an over the road truck driver. Ernest was never one to sit to long and wanted to see the wonders of the world. Elsie died unexpectedly in 2000. In 2005 Ernest remarried Barbara Murray and continued to live in Garland Texas. In 2012 after seeing the majority of the highways and byways in our great country Ernest was forced to retire due to health issues. There is no way to get an honest idea of the amount of miles Ernest drove in the 22 years he was on the road. Ernest not only enjoyed seeing this great country we live in, he also enjoyed reading the history of generations that came before.

Ernest is survived by his wife Barbara Murray of Garland Texas, son Eric and Anniece Murray of Royse City Texas, son Lee Murray of Lancaster, California and Daughter Lynn Murray of North Augusta South Carolina, grandsons Josh and Ashley Murray of Lavon Texas, Logan Murray, granddaughter Tatum Murray both of North Augusta South Carolina, Great Grandsons Dylan & Luke Murray both of Lavon, Texas, Stepdaughters Laura of Garland Texas and Bonnie Murray of Richardson Texas, Brothers Wendall & Darla Murray of Abilene, Texas, Ronny & Maria Murray of Cedar Park, Texas.

Proceeded in death by his wife of 40 years Elsie Murray, Brothers Joe Murray, Talmadge Murray and Hugh Murray, Sister Patricia Laney and parents George Dewey and Lonie Bell Murray.
