DAWSON, Willie Ross “Bill,” 81 of Garland, was called home on Wednesday, July 13. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Bill served as a deacon at the Calvary Hill Baptist Church where he touched the lives of many. He spent countless hours volunteering his time and efforts. Bill loved his Lord, country, and family. He joined the Army in 1954 where he proudly served during the Korean War. Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carlene, his daughters, Rhonda Carter, Kathy Stephens, Karen Lay, and Sherri Whitten, 7 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be July 18 from 6-8 p.m. at Eastgate Funeral Home in Garland. Services will be held July 19 at 11:30 a.m. at Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Mesquite.
