Our precious Carole Elizabeth Battenfield died December 4, 2015 after a long illness at Lake Pointe Rehabilitation Hospital in Rowlett, TX. She was born on October 1, 1938 at St. Francis Hospital in Freeport, Illinois to Arnold and June Shoemaker. Carole was a graduate from St. Mary's School in Freeport. In August of 1953 the Shoemaker family moved to Rockford, Illinois. There Carole completed her education and graduated from West High School in June of 1956. On October 13, 1956 she married her soulmate, LaRoy Battenfield, atSt. Mary's Church in Freeport, Illinois . Carole and LaRoy started their family, Kathleen, Douglas, Ronald, and Richard in Rockford, Illinois. For over the past 40 years their home was in Garland, TX.

Carole is greatly missed by her husband and best friend of 59 years, LaRoy Battenfield, daughter Kathleen Thomas and her husband Steve, son Doug Battenfield and wife Shirley, son Ron Battenfield and wife Kathy, and son Rick Battenfield and wife Susan, her sister Janice Youman and husband Ron, and her Aunt Marjorie.

Tremendous joy was brought to Carole by the love of her many grandchildren and her great-grand children and some spunky grand-dogs!
