Charles Alberton, beloved husband and father, died after a prolonged illness, on March 18, 2014, just two days after his 90th birthday. He is survived by his two sons, Philip and Christopher (and his wife), three grandchildren (and their spouses), five great-grandchildren and his sister, Joan. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eve, in 2004. They had been married for 57 years. Charles was born and raised in Chicago. He had also been a resident of Seattle and New Orleans and had lived in Dallas since 1970. Charles was a graduate of Northwestern University and SMU. He had a varied career in mostly administrative work and worked for companies as diverse as Western Electric, the architectural and engineering firm of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, LTV, the Boeing Company and the City of Dallas. The quality of his work at the Boeing Company led to his placement on the Apollo/Saturn V Roll of Honor - given to Boeing employees "for their outstanding contribution to America's first lunar landing". Those so honored are listed in the Smithsonian Institution and the Library of Congress. Charles was very proud of his contribution and often spoke of the honor. Charles served honorably in Navy Seabees in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a young man who had just graduated from Farragut High School in Chicago. He loved to tell stories of his war experiences "always one day away from the action". He was a member of the Boy Scouts (as scout as well as scoutmaster), Loyal Order of Moose and Toastmasters. Charles was a lifelong Roman Catholic and served actively in many parishes. He was a member of several choirs. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Third Order of St. Francis.
