L.J. Shirley age 85 of Quitman, Texas went to be the Lord on February 14, 2014. He was born December 9, 1928 in Brashear, Texas. He is preceeded in death by parents Frank & Flossie Shirley, his sisters Winneth and Joyce and his first wife Lois Morphis Shirley. He is survived by brothers Frank and Paul Shirley, his wife Jane Cartwright Shirley, Son Larry and wife Mary, daughters Vickie and husband Robert Freeman, Carla and husband Danny Alphin, 4 grand children ,11 great grand children, and 2 great great grand children. He served with the United States Air Force, worked for Gulf Oil Company, was a Master Mason and he served and retired from the Garland Fire Department after 34 years. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Eastgate Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery.
