Taffy Christine Wehe was born to George and Sue Thomas in Elko, Nevada on October 29, 1969. They
soon moved to Challis, Idaho where Taffy grew up and developed lifelong friendships. Her dad and
mom loved to hunt and fish, and the family spent much of their time on camping trips hunting and
fishing. When Taffy was six, she caught a salmon almost as big as her!
Taffy didn’t leave Challis until going to college. She graduated in December 1992 from William Jennings
Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee with a BA in Christian Education. She moved to Dallas and got a job
as a live-in nanny, then as a part time receptionist while attending classes at Dallas Theological
Seminary. She went full time with her receptionist job at Fellowship Bible Church North in Plano, TX
where she met her future husband, Kent Wehe.
Kent and Taffy developed a great friendship, were married on November 23, 1996, and have four
wonderful children. Makenna was born in 1998, Rylan in 1999, and Gavyn in 2001. In 2003, the family
moved to Tucson, Arizona for Kent’s work where they had their fourth child, Braelyn, in 2004. Tucson
was a fun place to live but too far from family, so they moved back to Dallas in December 2005. It took a
while for their home to sell in Tucson, so Taffy drove to Kansas with their four kids to live on the farm
with Kent’s parents while Kent stayed with friends in Dallas. Taffy built a wonderful relationship with
Kent’s parents and friends while living those few months in Kansas and the kids had a great time living
on the farm.
In October 2006 Taffy was diagnosed with myxoid round cell liposarcoma, a very rare form of cancer.
Then in 2020 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Taffy fought 18 long years with cancer and never
let it defeat her spirit. In looking back over all the chemotherapy, radiation, paralysis, surgeries, and
physical therapy that Taffy had to endure, interspersed among them all were trips to Idaho and Kansas
to visit family, high school band competitions, graduations, leading a small home group at church, a
family vacation to South Dakota, a cruise, weddings, and funerals of dear family and friends.
Taffy made the back yard of their home into a beautiful flower garden which became her haven. Taffy
was passionate about plants and every kind of flower. She loved watching the birds and squirrels but
especially hummingbirds.
Taffy passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024, at Faith Presbyterian Hospice. She never gave up
and she never gave in. Taffy was at peace because she knew there was no work that she could do that
would ever make her good enough for God. Instead, she rested in her trust that Christ took God’s wrath
in her place. She was her husband’s best friend and loved her children dearly. She will be greatly
missed.
Taffy was preceded in death by her parents George and Sue Thomas, her brother Danny Thomas, her
uncles Dale and Billy Thomas, her aunt Melva Graham, her cousin Cole Thomas, her father-in-law Wayne
Wehe, and her brother-in-law David Rorabaugh.
Taffy is survived by her husband Kent Wehe; her children Makenna, Rylan, Gavyn, and Braelyn; sisters
Laurie Kitchens (Rick) and Karri Beaty (Bruce); sister-in-law Melissa Thomas; uncle Lee Thomas; mother-
in-law Trudy Wehe; sisters-in-law Cindy Sothman (Vaughn), Lynette Jones (Jeff), Judy Wehe, and Colleen
Bliss (Bryan); and many more cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Taffy’s funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, 9/16/2024, at Woodcreek Church with a
public viewing starting at noon. The church address is:
