Janet Margret Adams

Janet Margret Adams, 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Garland Texas on September 9th, 2026.

She was the wife of Charlie Adams. They shared 27 years together.

Janet was born in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Amelia Cox and Samuel Cox.

She was a member of St Michael the ArchAngel Church of Garland. She enjoyed nature, dancing, gardening, camping, and wind chimes. She will be remembered for not only being our mom and grandmother; she was our guiding light, our source of unconditional love, and the heart of our family. Her love was a constant force that shaped us, supported us, and guided us through life’s joys and challenges.

She had an extraordinary ability to make each of us feel special and understood. With just a look she could comfort us; with a hug she could make our troubles melt away. Her strength was our foundation, her wisdom our compass. Janet taught us the most valuable life lessons - not through lectures but through her actions. She showed us the power of kindness, the importance of family , and the strength found in love.

She is survived by her brother Jimmy Cox, her children Rod Derek, Martin Derek, Claudia Derek Casparis and her husband Terry Casparis. Grandchildren Brinly Derek, Brianna Bradley, Amelia Kilbreath, Nick Kilbreath, Aaron Kilbreath, Haila Yates, Hannah Stier, and Jonathan Stier. Many great grandchildren who referred to her as Gigi, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by both of her parents, brothers Henry, Sam, Bill, sisters Betty, Florence, Annabelle, husband Charlie Adams, late husband Kenneth Joe Derek, and daughter Lisanne Kilbreath.

As we say goodbye, we’re comforted knowing that Janet’s legacy lives on in each of us - in our values, our love for each other, and the way we strive to make the world a little bit kinder. Janet, you were our anchor, and our safe harbor. Your love will continue to guide us.

The celebration of life will be announced soon. Please reach out to Rod Derek or Claudia Derek Casparis if interested in attending.

Memorial donations may be sent to any of the children.
