Mrs. Baby George (89), Babykutty Kochamma, beloved wife of the late Rev. Dr. K. S. George
(Thampi Achen), was called home to be with the Lord on July 1 st , 2025.

Kochamma was born on August 17, 1935, to Mr. P.T. Varughese and Mrs. Sosamma Varughese
of Pathil house, Thazathangady, Kottayam, Kerala, India in the Poovakulam family. Kochamma
had a joyful childhood growing up at Pathil house with all her cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews, mother, and grandmother, with summers spent in Amayannoor, her mother’s home.
Kochamma worshipped and attended Sunday School at Holy Trinity CSI Cathedral Kottayam.
When Kochamma was 10 years of age, her father passed away, leaving her oldest brother the late
Mr. P.V. Thomas (Kunja) to lead the family. She was one of four sisters: the late Mrs. P.V.
Mariamma (Kuttiyamma) from Ayamanam, the late Miss. P.V. Annakunja, and is survived by
Mrs. Aleyamma Varughese (Kochaleyamma) from Amayannoor.
Kochamma received her early education at St. John’s school, Illeekal, and Baker Memorial
School, Kottayam. She studied nursing at Patna Medical College in Bihar (1956-1960) and
worked at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi (1963). She then joined
the Indian Army as a nurse.

In 1967, Kochamma left the army to marry Rev. K.S. George on August 17. She became part of
the loving Karukuttiyil-Thekkathil family in Kappil, Kayamkulam, with four brothers: the late
Mr. K.S. Jacob, Mr. K.S. Paulose, Mr. K.S Joshua, Mr. K.S. Chacko, and one sister, Mrs.
Marykutty Bhanu.

Kochamma faithfully served with Achen in various church postings in India including in the high
ranges, Peermade area. Kochamma experienced the hardest time in her life but the greatest
opportunity by leaving her children in India to come to the United States on May 7, 1976, as a
nurse sponsored by a family friend Mr. John C. Philip (Thomaskutty Houston), followed by
Achen sponsored by Mr. John and Mrs. Elizabeth John (Houston) to minister to the Church of
South India community in the U.S. Her children arrived in the U.S. shortly after.

With the authorization from the Diocesan Bishop of Madhya Kerala, Achen and Kochamma
founded and established the CSI Congregation of Dallas in 1978. Achen and Kochamma also
faithfully served the CSI Church of Greater Houston, where Achen was Vicar and President from
1978-1981. Achen, Kochamma, and children were greatly cared for by our family and friends in
Houston and in Dallas, to whom we are grateful.

Kochamma is survived by her two children, son Mr. Sam K. George, and daughter, Mrs. Annie
K. Abraham, husband Mr. Jijumon Abraham, and treasured granddaughter Miss Jinnie Ann
Abraham of Garland, TX, USA.

Kochamma worked as an LVN and then RN for many years at Memorial Hospital Garland which
became Baylor Medical Center Garland until retirement. She enjoyed her time there working
with good friends.

Kochamma was a quiet, faithful servant of the Lord serving His church, a skilled nurse, a
devoted mother, sweet auntie, and wonderfully loving grandmother. She instilled in her family
the importance of Bible study, prayer, and waiting on the Lord through her personal stories. She
ensured that everyone who came to her home was loved and looked after and always
remembered each person lovingly. The Lord blessed her last days with many visits from her
dear family and friends, and she was able to enjoy their company. Babykutty Kochamma will be
greatly missed until we see her again in heaven.

In Loving Memory of Baby Kochamma We fondly remember the beautiful life and gentle spirit of Baby Kochamma. During my time serving at the Dallas CSI Church, I had the blessing of visiting Kochamma’s home—a place filled with warmth and grace. She was a very loving and caring mother, and her affection touched everyone around her. Our dear Juby (Sam) took exemplary care of his mother, honoring her with love and dedication. I also cherish the precious moments spent in Annie and jijus home, where we shared heartfelt fellowships and joyful conversations. Kochamma’s presence brought joy, comfort, and a sense of togetherness. She was truly a lovely mother, and the time spent with her will always remain a cherished memory in our hearts. May her soul rest in peace, and may God continue to comfort and strengthen the family during this time of loss.
