James Elliott, a devoted father, grandfather, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully in his home on April 29, 2026.
Born on July 16, 1925, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Floyd and Rosebud Elliott, James lived a long life defined by hard work and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones.
In 1951, James married the love of his life, Laura Elizabeth Burnley. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three daughters. After years of making a home in St. Louis, Missouri, James and Laura relocated to Garland, Texas, in 1989. A man of strong faith, James was a dedicated member of The Potter’s House Church, where he and Laura remained active and loyal members until their respective passing.
James was known for his incredible work ethic, retiring from Sears, Roebuck and Co. in 2011 after many years of dedicated service. Outside of work, he was the cornerstone of his family, providing wisdom, stability, and love to multiple generations.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his surviving daughters, Annie Beatrice Polk and Eva Lynn Elliott; his grandchildren, Lydia Stewart, Raymond Green, Linda (Howard) Johnson, Kyle Elliott, and Kathy (Kelvin) Sasser; Kevin and Vera Blanks as well as a host of great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
James Elliott will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of faith and family remains.
