George Edwards “Eddie” Morgan passed away July 16, 2026, at the age of 69.  Eddie spent his entire life as not only a Dallas County resident but also, as he put it, a Yellow Dog Democrat.

Eddie was the first-born child of Bill and LaVenia Morgan.  He grew up in the Piedmont area of Pleasant Grove in southeast Dallas, graduating from W.W. Samuell High School in 1974, where he was a manager on the football, basketball, and baseball teams.  He attended Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) and Eastfield College and El Centro College, of the Dallas County Community College District (now Dallas College).  At El Centro he studied to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse, a license he held for over 30 years.

  After retiring, Eddie became active in multiple local organizations, most involving the Democratic party and protecting the rights of citizens.  Eddie had a keen interest in politics and was a Precinct Chair in east Dallas for several years.  He was passionate about voting rights and was involved in countless voter registration events. He was a long-time member of the Stonewall Democrats of Dallas, which named him the “2014 Member of the Year.”  He was involved in the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans and the American Association of Retired Persons, attending many rallies supported by the groups.

Eddie is survived by his mother, LaVenia Morgan, of Dallas, and sisters Susan Farris (Mike), of Sunnyvale, and Kelly Griffin (Jon), of Grapevine.

A gathering of friends and family will be held August 1 from 2:00 to 4:00 in the Schneider Chapel at the Juliette Fowler Communities, 230 S. Fulton St., Dallas, Texas (enter Gate 3, park in the Pearl Nordan Care Center parking lot on the left, and enter the building).
