Ronald L. Shimek, 74, of Mesquite, Texas passed away on May 7th , 2022. Ron was born to Julius (Mike) Shimek and Betty Kelly Shimek on August 7th , 1947 in Cresco, Iowa. The family moved to Bloomington, Illinois where Ron grew up and attended high school and college. Ron served in the US Army in the early 70's and after discharge in 1974 moved to Dallas where he worked as a Concrete Finisher and then became an owner of Premier Concrete and held the title of Field Superintendent. Several years later he became an owner of a doughnut shop and made doughnuts for several years before retiring. Ron was a member of St. Pius X in Dallas, Texas for more than 30 years. Ron is preceded in death by his father Julius, his mother Betty and his sister Patricia A. Shimek Brooks. He is survived by his ex-wife and best friend Carol Shimek and his step-sons Adam Miller and Derek Thompson. Also, his beloved dog Xena. In his younger years Ron had a great passion for playing golf, but also liked to bowl and enjoyed snow skiing. He was also a champion Euchre player. If we have been pleased with life, we should not be displeased with death, since it comes from the hand of the same master. —Michelangelo
