Billy Eugene Williams

Billy Eugene Williams, age 81, passed away in Plano, Texas on September 27, 2021 with his loving granddaughters by his side. The first of two children, he was born on November 12, 1939 in Henderson, Texas to Howard and Maudie Williams. Billy attended Henderson High School. Shortly after graduation, at the age of 19, he entered the Army to proudly serve his country. During the Vietnam war, Billy served three tours in Vietnam, and was awarded many honors for his courageous actions. One of which, is a Bronze Star Medal that he received for acts of heroism and selflessness when his helicopter was shot down during battle in Vietnam. Billy was a sharp young man who received an extensive education throughout his time in the military, and earned a Bachelor of Science from Emery-Riddle Aeronautical University. After 20 years of active service in the Army, Sergeant First Class Billy Williams retired from the military in 1979. After his time in the Army, Billy moved to Dallas, Texas where he met his true love, Jody Ann. Through his marriage, Billy gained four step children and, ultimately, many grandchildren. Billy, affectionately referred to as "Pawpaw" by his grandchildren, was known by many for his sharp sense of humor, wit, and sarcasm. Under his tough exterior, he loved and cared for his people deeply and was fiercely loyal. Billy took great pride in his friends, family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Billy is preceded in death by his spouse, Jody Ann Howe, and his parents, Howard and Maudie Williams. He leaves behind his brother Ron Williams (Pat), nephew David Williams, Niece Kami Webb, and his four step children Devin Chapman (Robert), Briggs Howe (Susan), Allison Shike (Jim), and Jeff Howe (Kris). Pawpaw will be missed dearly by his grandchildren Elizabeth Cole (Chad), Meredith Stanaland (Austin), Colby Howe, Bailey Moyer, Grace Shike, Wade Shike, Madison Howe, Robin Howe, and Evan Howe; and his great grand children Stella Hales, Harper Cole, and Jody Stanaland. Billy will be inurned with full military honors in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
