Sebastian Michael "Mikey" Gomez

Mikey Gomez, age 4, of Keller, Texas, died on June 10th 2019, at 4:52 pm in Fort Worth, Texas after suffering catastrophic complications during his eighteenth cardiac surgery. His parents, Christy Chambers and Michael Gomez, took Mikey off life support on June 11th, 2019 at 1:15 pm after he was declared brain dead. Mikey was born on July 21st, 2014 in Richardson, Texas. He was born with very severe congenital heart defects called, Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCAS. Despite enduring eighteen surgeries in his short life, Mikey was resilient, sweet, tough and funny. His smile lit up the room and everyone that met Mikey, fell in love with him. Mikey loved Jurassic Park (T-Rex and Raptor Blue), superheroes (especially Superman) PJ Masks, scary movies, chocolate, monsters, bugs and dirt. His laugh was contagious and his T-Rex roars can still be heard throughout the house. Mikey enjoyed watching movies (usually Goosebumps) with his older sister while eating popcorn and would help take care of his baby brother by making him laugh. Due to such severe heart defects, Mikey was homebound most of his life. He still rocked it out though! Mikey loved bubbles, coloring, playing Super Mario 3 and Sonic video games, watching T-Rex Ranch and playing in the sprinkler while getting all muddy. Mikey got to ride his first roller coaster and he went to the beach with his Sissy and Grandma. He got to meet Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes), Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), Dee Wallace (Cujo, E.T.) and Pennywise (Tim Curry), Father Evil (Lou Avilleira), The Corpus Christi Joker (John Pantoja), Ted Raimi (The Grudge), Jonathan Breck (Jeepers Creepers) at Texas Frightmare Weekend. He got to ride on a firetruck with Santa, his best friends were Superman (Daniel Sanchez) and Wonder Woman (Elizabeth Sanchez) and his Daddy taught him how to drive a car and fix/build things at home. Mikey was loved by all of our family pets. Hazel, the chihuahua, was his favorite. They loved to cuddle each other and sleep together when it stormed outside. Hazel would lick Mikey's toes while he watched his morning cartoons and make him giggle. The day Mikey died, our world stopped turning, everything froze. His hugs, his giggles and "I loves you's" will forever be missed. We will always be a family of five in our hearts. Mikey's bright light, that still lights his soul and our hearts, will never burn out. Mikey was preceded in death by: his great-uncle, James Ray Fish; great-grandmother; Luceil Marie Fish; aunt, Jennifer Yates; and great-grandfather, Malcolm James Fish. Mikey is survived by his parents, Michael Gomez and Christy Chambers, of Keller, Texas, sister; Emily Chambers, of Keller, Texas, brother; Brian Gomez, of Keller, Texas and grandmother; Patty Chambers, of Garland, Texas.
