Marlene Wakefield

Marlene G. Wakefield, 77, of Rowlett, TX, passed away, Friday, November 6, 2020 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lake Point. Marlene was born on September 7, 1943 in Rock Island, IL, the daughter and oldest child of Albert and Geraldine (Rockwell) Lewis Davis. She was previously united in marriage to James Dewitt Douglas, III (Ft. Worth, TX), Horace Hendu Henderson (Dallas, TX) and Robert Wakefield (deceased). Marlene was a graduate of Rock Island Senior High School in Rock Island, IL. She worked in the field of electronics, building circuit boards and as a quality control inspector. She worked for many major electronic companies throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area, such as Texas Instruments and Flextronics, to name a few. Marlene was interested in helping others, trained as a first responder, and once licensed as a massage therapist. Marlene had many talents. She was a gifted artist who started drawing as a child, made many beautiful oil paintings throughout her adult years and made exquisite one-of-a-kind light switch plates that she sold on Etsy and gifted to many friends. Marlene leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her son Stephen (Pamela) Douglas of Youngstown, Ohio; brother, Steven (Vali) Lewis of Aliso Viejo, CA; sisters: Joyce Guthrie of Upper Marlboro, MD, Claudia (Ron) Hughes of Memphis, TN and Tina Motton (Stanley) of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law, Alberta Lewis of Rock Island, IL; grandchildren, Aapri Douglas, Brittany Douglas, Donté Pittman, Stephanie Douglas, Khalia Douglas, Anthony Douglas and James Dewitt Douglas, V; thirteen great grandchildren; cousins, Patricia (Bobby) Randolph, Willie Dean Smith ("Big Brother"), Willie George Smith ("Little Brother") of Dallas, TX; beloved nieces and nephews: Kenny Lewis, Angela Lewis, Kevin Lewis, Duane Lewis, Jr., Bryon Guthrie, Kelly Guthrie, Melony Lewis, Garland Calhoun, Steven Lewis, Jr., Nikkya Lewis and Sean Lewis; special friends Bertha Wright, Betty Miller, Charlene Nelson, Cynthia Christle, Denice Deckard, Desiree Ballard, Yolanda Brooks, and a host of other friends and loved ones. Marlene was preceded in death by her father, Albert Lewis, son, James Dewitt Douglas IV, brother, Duane Lewis, nephew Sonny Lewis and niece, Gina Lewis. Due to the current health crisis, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made in honor of Marlene, to the American Cancer Society, or similar organizations that support breast cancer research. The family will plan a memorial service to honor Marlene either virtually, or, in-person, when we can all be safe.
