Betty Jean Weaver, nee Wedelin, born August 4, 1929, died peacefully of old age September 18, 2020. Betty was an extraordinarily kind, gentle and quiet woman who fully embodied the gifts of patience, tolerance, and compassion. Completely devoted to her family, she enjoyed gardening, sewing ballet costumes, knitting, and reading. She was a skillful cook, whose pies were eagerly awaited. For many years she worked as a secretary in the IRS appeals office in Dallas. In later life she became a member of SGI-USA, a Buddhist lay organization for the advancement of peace, culture and education, based on the teachings of Nichiren Daishonin. She is survived by a loving daughter, Deborah Jean Weaver, who is grateful for a mother who never gave up in the face of illness or adversity, kept the family united, and taught her the true meaning of being human. Betty is laid to rest at Restland Cemetery in Dallas.
