Cherdkiat "Kit" Lamakul

Cherdkiat "Kit" Lamakul, age 74, passed away at his home in Garland, Texas, on April 17, 2020, from complications of brain and lung cancer. Mr. Lamakul was born on November 18, 1945, in Suphanburi, Thailand. He is the son of the late Chan and Suprik Lamakul of Suphanburi, Thailand. Mr. Lamakul was one of eleven children, with eight siblings surviving him. His brothers are; Veera, Somchart, Nala "Wan Chung" (deceased), Vanchai, Chalermsak (deceased), Kumjad, and Somyos. His sisters are; Ganokporn, Ganya, and Yupin. Mr. Lamakul came to the United States as a college student. He graduated from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1972, having earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. While a student at WMU, he discovered his lifelong passion for tennis. Mr. Lamakul married Marcia in 1969 in Kalamazoo (divorced 1985). They had three children Christopher, Anna and Alissa. The family moved to Benbrook, Texas, in 1978. He worked in the industrial engineering field, having been employed by General Motors, General Dynamics, Bell Helicopter, and Champlin Petroleum. He married Waraporn in 1985 (divorced 1987). In 1986 he became an entrepreneur and opened a video rental in Irving Texas, Video King. In the following years, Mr. Lamakul owned other video rentals and restaurants in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This was followed by a semi-retirement filled with golf and world travel, with his beloved wife, Tuk. His other passions included playing the guitar, conducting karaoke, and helping other people. In recent years, Mr. and Mrs. Lamakul put their faith in Jesus Christ, which gave him greater purpose in life and eternal hope for the future, which he expressed very clearly. They are members of North Park Presbyterian Church, Thai Outreach Dallas Congregation. Tuk has been her husband's constant companion for the past twenty-five years. Mr. Lamakul is survived by his three children and their families; Christopher and Laurel, Eric and Anna, and Stephen and Alissa. Mr. Lamakul is also survived by nine grandchildren; Elizabeth, Kara, Mandelyn, Jenna, Leah, Christian, Kingston, Dyllan, and Ariel. He is also survived by his wife, Tuk Lamakul, originally from Mukdahan, Thailand, whom he married in 1995.
