Larry Dwayne Jay

Larry Dwayne Jay, 55 years young, of Garland, Texas, passed away on March 9, 2020 at his home. Larry was born on March 13, 1964 in Pampa, Texas to Michael Earl Jay and Gretchen Jay (Hafley) Neighbors. Larry spent his younger school years in Garland, Tx and then moved to the Austin, Tx area where he graduated from Bastrop High School in 1982. Larry was a loving single dad to his 2 sons Sean and Chandler Jay. He believed in letting the boys experience life to the fullest no matter what anyone else thought or had to say about it. Larry was Sean and Chandler's hero and they worshiped the ground their daddy walked on. Larry had a passion for anything Indian related including wanting to eventually learn to speak the native language. He also enjoyed cooking and could outdo any Food Network Star!! In Larry's spare time he liked to study about the universe and enjoyed watching old movies. Larry worked at several jobs, but he left his largest footprint at On the Border in South Garland where he worked as a bartender and a waiter. He worked there for many years and met wonderful friends while he was there. He was the bartender that "everyone knew his name". Preceding Larry in death are his grandmothers Bernadine Hafley and Ethel Jay. Those left to cherish Larry's memory are his sons Sean (8 yrs old), Chandler (7 yrs old), and David Jay, his mother Gretchen Jay (Hafley) Neighbors, his father Michael Earl Jay and his wife Lesley Jay, his sisters Melissa Jay and Becky Jay, Brother in Law Steve Sowards, and nephews Nick Jay and Jayden Sowards and many extended family members and a host of friends that will forever miss him dearly. Because there is too much risk involved with Covid-19, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date and the family will inform you once a new date is known.
