Andrea Dawn Lynette Lagat

In Loving Memory of Andrea "Dawn" Lynette Lagat
August 30, 1983 – April 27, 2025
With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Andrea "Dawn" Lynette Lagat, who departed this life on April 27, 2025, at the age of 41. A proud Texan and cherished resident of Richardson, Dawn’s warmth and light touched every life she encountered.

Dawn was truly one of God’s most beautiful creations; baptized at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Austin. She was kind-hearted, witty, generous, brilliant, and full of grace. She was a dedicated CASA volunteer, always standing up for those without a voice. She lived her life guided by the belief that “it is more blessed to give than to receive,” and her selflessness knew no bounds.

A lover of travel, nature, and adventure, Dawn found joy in the world around her and in the company of those she held dear. Her happiest moments were spent with family and friends, building memories filled with laughter, love, and meaning.

Born on August 30, 1983, in Austin, Texas, to Lawrence and Shirley Hurst, Dawn grew up in a family grounded in faith and love. She attended McNeil High School and later Tulane University, where she excelled in academics and athletics alike, particularly in softball and basketball.

It was during her college years in Louisiana that she met her soulmate, Anthony Lagat. What began as a friendship blossomed into a deep and enduring love. They were married on December 26, 2008, and together built a life centered on love, partnership, and family.

Dawn’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her beloved husband, Anthony, and their two sons, Allen and Alexander . She is also survived by her loving parents, Lawrence and Shirley Hurst; sister, Dena; brother, David; nephew, Nicholas; and mother-in-law, Elima Lagat and father- in-law Richard Chebore. She leaves behind a host of cherished in-laws: Isaac, Albert, Diana, Mercy, Faith, and Jerotich.

She now joins in eternal rest her brother, Lawrence Allen Hurst III, and her grandparents, Ollie Mae Hunter, Eddie Hunter, Dorothy Mae Hurst, and Lawrence Allen Hurst Sr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at East Gate Funeral Home in Garland, TX.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Upendo Baptist Church in Garland, followed by a Graveside Service at Restland Funeral Home at 3:00 PM.
Repast (dinner) at Upendo Baptist Church ending at 7pm

In honor of Dawn’s deep love for nature, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, a tree be planted to carry in her honor.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences upon Dawn’s passing. Dawn embodied all the attributes anyone could possibly hope for in a manager, but also had the compassion and kindness so important to being a good friend. It was her unwavering guidance, training and support that allowed me to become successful on the Billing Escalations team, but to my surprise, she genuinely cared about me and all the team on a personal level, and never hesitated to lend an ear and sage words if we were troubled. I am so grateful to have known Dawn, and I hope I can honor her memory by trying at all times to emulate her example.

Dawn was my Hiring Manager: a Visionary; who operated with integrity. Always a considerate Teacher and a Gifted Communicator. She led by example, the smartest hardest worker I knew. Prayers and Condolences to all she righteously loved this side of Heaven. I will miss Dawn. I am grateful to GOD for her presence in my life. I learned so much from her. She was always the smartest person in the room. She was brilliant. Dawn, like the meaning of her name, was the first to arrive work (and the last to leave). Her leaving us so soon is uncharacteristic. Blessings to her Family, Her legacy is full of Love,

Hi Dawn, I'm sitting down to write this with a heavy heart, still trying to process the news of your passing. Your loss feels like a personal loss for all of us who had the privilege of working under your guidance and care. Your kindness, compassion, and leadership touched each one of us in profound ways, and I feel deeply grateful to have had you in my professional journey. Your management style was unique in that you effortlessly balanced professionalism with empathy. You had this incredible ability to understand and support each team member, often going above and beyond to ensure we felt seen, heard, and valued. Your door was always open, not just physically, but metaphorically as well—you created a space where everyone felt safe to share their thoughts, ideas, and concerns. Your leadership was more than just about achieving goals; it was about nurturing people, fostering growth, and building a community. What I admired most about you was your ability to lead with both strength and gentleness. You had a way of pushing us to reach our potential without ever making us feel pressured or overwhelmed. Your encouragement and belief in us often brought out the best in us, and your constructive feedback was always delivered with kindness and a genuine desire to see us grow. You were more than just a manager; you were a mentor, a role model, and a friend to so many. Your legacy will live on through the countless lives you've touched. The way you conducted yourself with integrity, humility, and grace set a standard for all of us to aspire to. Your warmth, generosity, and unwavering support created a ripple effect that will continue to inspire us long after you're gone. I'll remember the way you would check in on us, not just about our work but about how we were doing as people. I'll remember the way you celebrated our successes, no matter how small, and the way you lifted us up during tough times. I'll remember the way you made everyone feel important and valued, and the way you brought out the best in people. As I reflect on your life and leadership, I'm reminded of the profound impact one person can have on others. You may be gone, but your influence will remain with us forever. We'll carry your lessons, your kindness, and your spirit forward in our hearts and continue to strive for the excellence you instilled in us. Thank you for everything, Dawn. Your memory will be a blessing to us all. May we honor your legacy by continuing to support one another and lead with the same love and compassion that you showed us. With deepest condolences and respect, Al
